~*~ Why The U.S. Colonized Hawaii ~*~
- Beginning around the 1820's, the economy in Hawaii increased with sugar cane trade. This made the United States business owners want to form and construct new plantations of sugar cane in Hawaii and try and become successful in this business
- Sugar plantations started to become more and more successful in Hawaii thus making up almost 75% of Hawaii's wealth at this time
- Having so many U.S. citizens in Hawaii made the business leaders want to annex Hawaii thus adding this territory apart of the U.S.
- From all this the American business owners thought that the Hawaiian government as a threat to them and there businesses, so a man named Stanford Dole helped them Overthrow the Queen of Hawaii.
